1st Lakecity GM International Chess Tournament, was held from 13th September to 20th September, 2019, at Orbit Resort, Udaipur Rajasthan. The event was organized by Chess In Lakecity, Udaipur. The tournament attracted total 223 players from 11 Federations i.e. BAN, CHI, EGY, IND, MDV, NEP, RUS, SGP, SRI, SVK, USA. There were in all 204 international fide rated players among the participants which includes 13 GM, 2 WGM, 9 IM and 6 FM from 20 states. The tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Vikas Bhale, IAS, Divisional Commissioner. Other dignitaries present were Shri. Sekhar Chandra Sahu, Vice President AICF; Shri. Rajendra Teli, Jt. Secretary, ARCA, Shri. Devendra Sahu, Shri. Himmat Sikligar, Shri. Vikas Sahu, Secretary Chess In lakecity and IA Swapnil Bansod, Chief Arbiter. The inaugural function was held at 10 A.M. & was followed by a technical meeting and thereafter the first round of the tournament. The necessary technical matters were decided in the meeting and also the appeal committee was formed in the same meeting. The 8 grueling days of top notch chess of 1st Lakecity GM tournament 2019, which concluded at Orbit Resort, observed many higher rated players were biting the dust and also the emergence of few new talents. GM Ivan Rozum of RUS, the top seed of the tournament, was held by IM Sayantan Das of WB in a Petroff Defense game. A critical knight endgame ended in a draw after 49 moves. In the 8th Round game GM Hesham Abdelarahman of Egypt won against Chillian GM Vasquez Rodrigo. Hesham started the game with English opening. He took a advantage of his advanced “d” pawn to convert the game into win. With this win GM Hesham took the sole lead after round 8. Top seed GM Ivan Rozum beat GM Hesham in the penultimate round to share the lead with 3 others. GM Deepan Chakravarthi beat IM Siddhant Mohopatra in a 25 moves Queens Gambit game. While on 3rd board IM Sayantan Das of WB having good chances of GM Norm, lost to GM Maxim Lugovesky of RUS. Fourth board result went in favour of GM Neelotpal Das who beat his state mate and newly crowned IM Mitrabha Guha both were from WB. In the last round in his game the Grandmaster GM Ivan Rozum and GM Neelotpal Das settled for a quick draw. 2nd board GM Swapnil Dhopade and GM Deepan Chakravarthy split the score in a queen/rook endgame. On 3rd board also GM Maxim Lugovsky drew his game with GM R R Laxman. At the end of 10th round GM Deepan Chakravarthy of ICF, GM Maxim Lugovksy of RUS, top seed GM Ivan Rozum of RUS and GM Neelotpal Das of PSPB tied for 1st place with 8 points each. Better tiebreak score helped GM Deepan Chakravarthy to clinch the title ahead of other 3 rivals. GM Lugovksy Maxim, GM Ivan Rozum and GM Neelotpal Das stood 2nd to 4th respectively. The prizes were distributed at the hands of Shri. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Water Resources, Rajasthan. The other dignitaries present were Shri. Gulabchand Kataria, Opposition Leader Shri. C.P. Joshi, MP Chittor, Shri. Fulsingh Meena, MLA Udaipur, Shri. Chandrabhan Singh Ankya, MLA, Chittorgarh, Shri Devendra Sahu, Shri. Tushar Mehta, Shri. Himmat Sikligar, Shri. Rajendra Teli, Jr. Secretary ARCA, Shri. Vikas Sahu, Secretary, Chess in Lakecity, and IA Swapnil Bansod Chief Arbiter. The tournament, organized by Chess in Lakecity on behalf of All India Chess Federation, concluded smoothly. Chief Arbiter IA Swapnil Bansod headed the team of Arbiters consisting of IA Rajendra Teli, Dy. Chief Arbiter, IA Anandh Babu VL, live games incharge, FA Sunil Soni, FA Neelesh Kumawat, FA Manish Chandalia, FA Chocklingam Balaji, and FA Deepak Chavan, who ably assisted him.
The Chess in Lakecity club organised its Summer Cup fide rated tournament (below 1600 category) at the beautiful Udaipur city from 13th to 15th June 2017. More than 475 players from Rajasthan, MP, Delhi, Punjab, UP, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, AP, Karnataka, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka and West Bengal besides Singapore participated in the three days nine round event. The time format of the tournament was 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment for each move to each player.
Fifteen year old Dhruv Dak of the host club Lakecity was the top seeded player of the tournament with a rating of 1594, followed by Arun Kumar of Punjab. The second round saw the tumbling of the top seed at the hands of Suryavanshi BL and fifth seed Gaha Narayan of UP was held to a draw by young Deepak Kataria of Rajasthan. Young players had no respect for (higher rated) seniors and there were upset galore in each and every round. Sixteen players led with four points each at the end of the fourth round.
The lead was narrowed down to four players after five rounds – Arun Kumar, Ankit Chudasama of Gujarat, Gaurav Jain of Rajasthan and Shrivstav Hritik of MP. In the sixth round, Ankit accounted for Arun and Gaurav beat Hritik, to share the lead with full 6 points. Four new players were trailing the leaders by half point. Ankit defeated Gaurav and was the only player to register seven wins in a row. Sheth Shemal Ketan of Gujarat prevailed over Arun Kumar to move into sole second spot with 6.5 points. Sixteen players were on the third position after the completion of seven rounds. In the penultimate round, Ankit Chudasama continued his relentless march to record one more win to score 8/8. Seven players - Babel T Divyanshu and Naman Porwal of Chess in lakecity Rajasthan, Hritik Shrivatsav and Eshaan Chandrol of MP, Amar Joyti Kakoti of Assam, Jitendra Mahale of Maharashtra and Tarun Kumar Singh of UP were behind him by one full point.
Chudasama Ankit suffered his first loss in the tournament at the hands of fifteen year old Babel. Eshaan, Tarun Kumar and Naman also scored victories to tie with Ankit and Babel for the top honours with 8 points each. Tiebreaks favoured Ankit Chudasama to bag the title and Babel won the second place. Ankit received Rs.30000/- and Babel Rs.20000/-. Sri. Chandra Singh Kotari, Mayor of Udaipur City was the chief guest for the final day function. Sri. Pramod Ji Samar and Sri. Chanchal Agarwal were the guests of honour. The tournament was well organised by the Lakecity Club in an air conditioned hall and quality food was provided at an affordable rate
1st SL Mangrudiya FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2017 was organized by Chess in Lakecity under the aegis of All Rajputana Chess Association, from 30thMarch to 4thApril, 2017. at Sahu Samudaik Bhavan, Udaipur. The Total Number of participants were 330 including 3 IM, a current Asian Senior Champion. GM Norm holder IM Wazir Ahmed Khan also one of the participants. The total tally of rated players were 226. The tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Chandra Singh Kothari , Mayor Udaipur. Other guests present on the dais were Prem Singh Shaktawat ,Shri. Pankaj Mangrudia, Devendra Sahu, Rajendra Bordia, Narayan Lal Sharma, Rajeev Bhardwaj, President Chess In lakecity and IA Swapnil Bansod, Chief Arbiter. After the inaugural function the technical meeting was arranged. All the tournament regulations were discussed and finalized in the meeting, including the shifting of venue for all the remaining rounds after the round 1. Second Seed IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni of Rlys, clinched the title of the tournament. He beat Sing Soram Rahul of Assam in the last round of the tournament to score 9 points out of maximum 9. Vikramadityawon all his games and scored a perfect 9. At the end of 5th round Vikramaditya, IM Himanshu Sharma and Atul Dahale leading the tournament with 5 points each. In 6th round game Vikramaditya beat Himanshu and crushed himanshu’s 2500 live rating dream. IM Himanshu Sharma, the top seed of tournament, finished 2nd with 8 points.He lost his only game to IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni. Vinod Sharma of Rlys, Jay Kundaliya of GUJ and Bhavdat Anand of AP scored 7.5 points each and finished in 3rd to 5th. positions respectively. The prize distribution function of 1st SL Mangrudiya FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2017 was held on 4thApril, 2017 at 3 pm at Sahu Samudaik Bhavan, Udaipur.
